Lidded goblet
Bohemia, 1791
Cast pewter with engraved decoration. The lidded goblet (probably for the maltsters’ guild) stands on a tall knopped stem and pedestal foot. The cup is decorated with four circular buttons holding up festoons in relief. Under this, the cup is engraved with year 1791 and the following inscription: “IACOB ILLEK. FRANTZ STICH ALT: GESELLEN / IOSEBH NETTER. FRANTZ KLASEK ELTSEMEISTER / IOHAN ROSIZKA: FRANTZ MICHEL HERN BEISITZ MEISTER.” The domed lid is surmounted by the figure of a Saint Bishop holding a mire, cross, and shield.
